The Importance of Eye Exams from Burd's Eye View PC

At Burd's Eye View PC, it is our job to educate our patients on eye exams. For this reason, we strive to ensure that each one of our patients has an annual eye exam on time. We understand that many individuals and families in Farmington are going to be a little bit nervous when they come to see an optometrist in our office for a vision exam. In order to help with this, our team is here to explain what is going to happen during the exam itself.

.

What to Expect During an Eye Exam

We expect all of our patients to have questions when they come to see us. We are going to make sure that we take the appropriate amount of time to address these questions and concerns. We are then going to take a look at the right and left eyes alone. We will test their ability to see. This lets us know if corrective lenses are needed. Then, we will take a look at the fields individually, looking for gaps in someone's vision. We will also take a look at the pressures behind the eyes, to screen for glaucoma. We may also dilate the eyes individually to get a closer look at the retina.

What Optometrists are Looking for During a Vision Exam

During a vision exam, our doctors are on guard for a handful of different health markers when it comes to vision. We will take a look at the visual acuity to see whether or not someone needs corrective lenses. We will also dilate a person's eyes to look at the blood vessels and nerves that live behind the eyes. We want to make sure that all potential issues are covered.

The Importance of a Regular Eye Exam from an Optometrist

A regular eye exam is critical for vision. This exam allows the eye doctor a chance to identify certain issues with the eyes before they can rob someone of his or her sight. On occasion, there are problems with the eyes that might develop without causing visual problems at first. For this reason, patients might not pick up on them. However, a licensed optometrist can detect them during eye exams.
